Keeping Your Skin Young Looking in Later Life
How Botox treatment at our Bristol Dental Practice can help.
We would perhaps all like to think that the skin that we had as children, healthy looking with a good amount of elasticity, would last us all the way through our lifetime. As we know though, like the rest of our body, our skin eventually shows signs of ageing and may not have the pleasing appeal that it once did.
With other aspects of our body, we are often able to hide the effects through choosing the right clothes to wear, and our hair can always be ‘beautified’ with a visit to the hairdressers.
When it comes to our facial features though, the lines and wrinkles that appear on our face are very difficult to mask. Whilst there are certain creams available that may help a little, these can only go so far in helping to make our skin look younger.
At Beau Monde Dental Care, as part of our overall aesthetic approach, we are able to offer our patients treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers which help to significantly improve the appearance of the skin. Whilst there has been some negative publicity surrounding Botox, providing that the procedure is performed by a qualified person, such as our very own Dr Nicola White, the procedure is entirely safe and successful.
Botox is an especially successful procedure for anyone whose skin has started to show wrinkles or crow’s feet. It is in fact a ‘dilute’ toxin which works by causing the facial muscles to relax. When this occurs, the wrinkles will slowly disappear and within a few days the results will be plain to see.
Although the effects of a Botox procedure are temporary, they should last for somewhere in the region of up to six months. This will depend on the individual though and although we can’t guarantee times, we will happily advise what you can expect at the consultation.
Dermal fillers are also an effective tool for ageing skin and are used to re-hydrate the skin and give it back a healthy appearance. As with Botox, the longevity of the results can vary but should last around six months.
It is important to note that these procedures can be repeated once the effects start to fade, with no side effects at all.
Both Botox and dermal fillers are administered within our state of the art Bristol based dentist. They are both applied to the skin via injections. The needle itself is very fine and no pain should be felt bar a slight ‘prick’.
In some cases, a small amount of bruising around the area of the injection may appear shortly afterwards but this will disappear very quickly and you will be left with younger and healthier looking facial features.
